Grandma House
Packaging Design for Malaysia’s Hainanese Coffee Brand
We collaborated with Grandma House, a heritage coffee brand from Malaysia’s new villages, to create a packaging design that connects tradition with modern sensibility. The challenge was to express the warmth, craftsmanship, and storytelling of Hainanese-style coffee culture in a contemporary and market-ready visual form. We set out to transform a familiar everyday drink into a brand experience that celebrates local identity, nostalgia, and authenticity.
Packaging Design Strategy
We developed a packaging system that balances cultural storytelling with modern minimalism. The design incorporates hand drawn illustrations inspired by kopitiam settings, local architecture, and Hainanese motifs. A warm brown palette evokes roasted coffee beans and nostalgia, while clean layouts ensure legibility and modern appeal. Each element reinforces the emotional link between flavor, memory, and place, turning packaging into a storytelling medium.

Kampung Good Competition 2025
The project’s success was recognized at the 2025 Kampung Good Competition, where EUTOPIA’s GRANDAMA HOUSE packaging design was selected as one of the Top 36 finalists. The competition celebrates creativity, innovation, and the spirit of Malaysia’s new villages. This recognition highlights how thoughtful design can honor cultural heritage while elevating brand impact.

A Modern Voice for Traditional Flavor
Through this collaboration, GRANDAMA HOUSE gained renewed visibility and emotional resonance in the Malaysian market. The project demonstrated how design can build recognition, tell a story, and drive brand appeal. With EUTOPIA’s creative direction, the brand became more than coffee; it became a cultural experience that connects heritage with the future of Malaysian craftsmanship.
